I know there are many needle punchers (if that is a word?)
who don't cross stitch,
but are drawn to old samplers.
It is probably the sweet little motifs
that catch their eyes,
I would imagine...
I often times get email request
asking if I have any plans of converting
a particular cross stitch pattern to punch needle.
Often times,
I do.
This weekend I sat with sketch pad and drew up
a design using some of my favorite
cross stitched motifs.
Rather then stitching thousands
of tiny X's,
I am punching thousands
of tiny loops...
a sampler in punch needle!
A blue fruit basket to symbolize
fertility,
wealth,
health & happiness....
A little man to symbolize marital fidelity.
{There will be a little lady as well,
she is the symbol of life.
She is in her favorite chambray dress
and big-brimmed straw bonnet.}
The buildings on the old schoolgirl samplers symbolized the young embroiderers
home or school.
I punched a big house,
with a red front door,
this is my house...
Strawberries, the perfect fruit ~ because there is no rind or pit to throw away...
they symbolize righteousness.
&
strawberry blossoms
for
purity & foresight...
And this concludes the little sneak peeks,
at what I've been up to,
and
your days lesson
on sampler motif symbolism.
Tis a very windy & chilly Sunday
with rain and storms in the forecast.
Spring seems to tempts us with a nice upper 70 degree day
and then we are back down to the 50's for several.
Spring,
where are you?
Tomorrow it looks like we are in for
some severe weather and chance of tornadoes.
I am off to settle down in my stitching chair this afternoon,
and hope for a finish on this
"larger then normal"
punch needle piece
by evening.
Hope everyone has a good & productive week,
Brenda

Interesting and the result in punchneedle is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
In Nixa, MO, six miles south of Springfield, right this minute (12:36 pm CDT), we are under a severe thunderstorm warning AND tornado watch. It's raining, thundering, blowing, stuffy, and the atmosphere is that storm-yellow color, and the two cats and two dogs have velcroed themselves to me. I'm going back to my stitching chair (working on your Summer Sampler (have finished the other three seasons!).
All my favorites!!! Another must-have. I'm sooooo addicted to needlework. I love just looking at my stash. I too have an afternoon of stitching ahead....yay!! Waiting on storms in STL.

Our weather here in England is April showers and they are heavy so if you get caught out in them - you're soaked! The weather is a perfect reason to stay in and stitch and be inspired by your lovely blog.
I can hardly wait for this one to be offered ... looks to be beautiful.
Oh, this is going to be a beautiful piece!
Looking forward to seeing it in its entirety!
Louise
