Yes,
it's that time of year...
Time for the little ones to locate a shoebox,
round up some pink and red construction paper
and
Mom's roll of tinfoil,
and perhaps
a paper heart doily or two...
(loved those)
Valentines boxes...
I loved making these when I was young.
Anyone else?
It was always such a contest
to see
who had the best box.
So a little school days inspiration
and
we have a new pattern
titled,
"Be My Valentine".
Our box
is going to be a heart-shaped
chocolate sampler box
by
Whitman's chocolates...
We're going to
re-purpose
it into a fun little box
to keep
our scissors, thimbles
and any other
stitching ditty you desire...
We aren't going to use construction paper,
however
old pages from books
and
sheet music
will be our
paper of choice...
Pattern includes charts for a
cross stitched heart-shape pincushion,
an envelope-shaped needle keep
and
an embellished
needle threader.
All little projects fit nice and snug in the little sewing box...
All 4 projects on the
"Be My Valentine" chart
are quick stitches,
a fun weekend project!
And for those who can think outside of the box,
(no pun intended!)
this certainly doesn't have to be done in Valentine's colors...
can you visualize this in browns & blues?
Paint the heart brown
and
switch out the red and ivory flosses
for blues and browns
and
you have a piece
to leave out
and
enjoy year round.
But
since this is the season of Love,
I chose to do mine in reds.
Speaking of Love...
for all you eagle lovers out there,
love is in the air at the Decorah, IA eagles nest!
Yes,
they are courting
and
they are busy
with house nest
keeping.
So go take a look,
the infamous corn husk
(a new one)
is in the nest once again...
makes me laugh!
And lastly,
"March's Word Play"
is now ready!
Have a good week,
Brenda

It's a stunning design, love the box too!
Your ribbons are the best, the colors are fabulous:))
See! You did create an amazing March pillow without leprechauns! I knew you could do it! The heart projects are making me drool, too.
Brenda, you just hit this one out of the park!!! Your "Love is in the air..." is about the sweetest thing I've ever seen. & I ditto every thing Penny said on the 1st post. ;o) warm bee-hugs, Debby

I just ordered your new Valentine design and sent my husband out for a box of Whitman's Chocolate. The design is so charming! I am also still working on the Halloween Witch. It means I will be working on two holidays from you at the same time. Do you know when you will have the fabric for the Valentine design, or do you have a suggestion for a replacement fabric that you have in your store?
"Love is in the air...." is really wonderful !!!
Brenda, only one word will do
WOW!!!!!!!
Gotta go place my order now!
I have my box! Now, would you be able to kit the Valentine project?? Would L♥VE that!!!!!! I'm still working on my eagles.....getting closer.
Great new Valentine project. That hear shaped pincushion is a must stitch.
I love it, Brenda! What a great project! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go visit the eagles.....
Hello! I picked up today 2 heart boxes of Whittmans that you recommended. And I also ordered your sweet "Be my Valentine" design today. LOVE IT!! I absolutely all the precious projects you designed for it. can't wait to receive it. Thank you so much:)

Brenda, I love "Be my Valentine"! What a lovely series of projects. Can you tell me what trim you used for the big heart? I would like to order it when I order the chart, if possible.
Thanks!
Your valentine designs and repurposing is fabulous. One of the best ideas for Valentines I have seen in a long time. I always hate the thought of all those little heart tins being thrown away after the day. Now I can save one at least or maybe several for a guild project one day, will just all have to get your pattern and some lace.
I couldn't wait to see what you were doing with the box. You didn't disappoint! Charming!
Terrific, awesome, fantastic! Such a cute Valentine's Day project (even as a gift for yourself!) I just finished six of last year's Valentine pattern - Cupid's Arrow. Can't wait to get this new one. You are amazing!
That's just darling - one box is at home ready to be embellished! The links to pics on the Web site are not working for me.
I love your new pattern "Be my Valentine".
Adorable.
I'm partial to hearts, so I really like your new pattern! And thanks for the Decorah updates...sounds like I will start checking in there daily very soon!
i can't wait to get mine.but now i gotta go buy more candy. i bought the wrong size! LOL!!!! denise
The Valentine pattern is just so charming - Congrats on creating such a lovely piece !
So far I have not found the 3" heart box down here in NE FL - I'll keep looking - the project is darling and a must have for sure !
you are soooo creative. Thanks Melody
The pattern came so fast. Thank you for such super fast service! I read and re-read the whole instructions last night. Husband got the box. Now to get the paint and patiently wait or find the fabric. Thank you again!
I ordered last night and cannot wait for it to come!! I bought two boxes of chocolate and had to glue one back together...when I unwrapped to eat it the box fell apart..bad glue I guess. Anyway, fixed and ready to go.
Love, love, love the new patterns!!
I think this is the best wordplay so far. Just perfect for March.
As for the valentine design, I'm on the hunt for my box. It's on my Valentine Day wishlist (along with all the wordplay charts!).
I loved stitching this sweet design. I had fun crafting the heart box too although I changed the design completely as I wanted to use some soft white rose trim I had - hope you like it!.
