Circa 1819 from the needle of Ann Dickinson...
Stitched once again,
some 191 years later,
with thy needle & thread...
will be stitched
once again.
Beginning date,
the day after Christmas
2010...
My linen of choice,
30 count over-dyed linen
by R&R Reproductions
worked over 2 threads
using DMC flosses.
The little basket of fruit
reminded me of the
little clementine mandarin oranges
that we all feasted upon
during this holiday season...
My goal is to stitch
at least one motif a day,
until I get to the center panel
and bottom border...
this will take a few more days.
With thy Needle & Thread,
Brenda
P.S. After posting this post, I noticed a boo boo...
do you see it?
Let the tearing out begin!! Not a good way to start...
Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteYour start looks fabulous. I'll be anxious to watch the sampler as it unfolds. (My untrained eye didn't notice anything other than a wonderful recreation!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful colours! I think there's something wrong with the edge of the basket?
ReplyDeleteAn extra row in the basket...
ReplyDeleteLove your work!... and THOSE PICTURES from yesterday!! Oh My!!
Oh this gives me the inspiration to replicate some very old Dutch sampler motifs I found lately.
ReplyDeleteJust if I could stitch as fast as I design.........LOL

I also love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI noticed an X that was not crossed on the fruit on the bottom left and the same thing on the top edge of the basket.
It's looking great already. You've put an extra row of cream in the basket I think.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see any mistakes. I enjoy fruit baskets - they are fun to stitch. Never mind alphabets, I enjoy stitching those, too --- L.
ReplyDeletebtw, the little flower is lovely, too. Excellent colors
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking to replicate this yes there is a mistake only one that needleworkers would see. Remember the rest of the world will see it only as priceless!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, everything you do is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like your version better! Beautiful colors, have fun working on this lovely sampler.
ReplyDeleteTina xo
What a wonderful project for The New Year! Makes me want to get out my strong readers and Ott light. The hoar frost is lovely. We used to see a lot of that when we lived in Colorado. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Erin on Etsy recommended your thread, so I just ordered some for my birthday. Can't wait to get it and hold it in my hand.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sneak peaks of Ann. Looking forward to seeing more snippets as you progress. Blessings from Kentucky - kelley
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm not understanding what is going on...LOL. Where can we get the pattern to stitch along with you? Do you have them for sale? Inquiring minds need to know.
