A wild 3 minutes...

The dog days of summer are upon us. We are in for a hot & humid week, which is a perfect mix for evening storms. Last evening my dh and I were at Country Stitches doing some "honey do" items and a storm snuck upon us rather quickly from the south over the lake. We climbed in the car and scurried homeward under a very scary blackish greenish sky. The dh even ran the last stop sign at the church corners, the sky was scary and it was time for us to get home!
As we pulled into the garage the winds hit.
70 mph
for
3 minutes
left our neighborhood looking like this...

A favorite tree of mine, twisted like a bread twistie.

Trees blocking roads & sidewalks everywhere in the neighborhood.

The big & old trees seem to be most vulnerable.

The roots from this tree brought up the sand volleyball court with it.

Campers at the camp grounds are toppled over like dominoes...
We are very fortunate that most of the damage was limited to trees with very little property damage.
Hoping for a calmer evening tonight,
Brenda

  13. The damage is awful, but glad that no one was hurt. It's heartbreaking though to see all those beautiful trees damaged. Sure looks like hurricane damage we've had here in Texas. Amazing to see the power of mother nature.
