Yea, that one.
Sweet Caroline,
baa, baa, baaa...
It's stuck in my head
this Sunday afternoon,
as I sit with my magnifiers
perched low on my nose,
counting,
and recounting
as I chart
this antique sampler...

Yep, it's quite the scene...
me in my readers
rocking to Neal Diamond!
I'm really drawn to that bird perched upon the branch,
it is somewhat out of the ordinary
and
I like that about it,
don' t you?
I'm starting to feel like I'm coming down the home stretch on this piece...
down to charting the petite stitches (worked over 1).
I always find a way to leave those for last...
not fond of stitching
or
charting
those tiny little pups!
Adam & Eve,
the tree
&
the serpent
are entirely
petite stitches
{sigh}
It was 1827
she was 13,
her name was
Caroline Hansford.
Sweet Caroline.
I call this my Sweet Caroline sampler.
Caroline stitched this sampler for her mother
and has a very touching verse.
A sampler that will fill my winter evenings
with pure stitching pleasure...
I'm looking forward to stitching this one...
the colors and motifs are yummy!
Back to Neil Diamond...
Any Neil Diamond fans out there? Diamond and his hit Sweet Caroline were a bit before my time...
I was in kindergarten and my oldest sister was a senior when he released Sweet Caroline. President Kennedy's daughter,
Caroline,
who was 11 at the time,
was his inspiration for this song.
He would later sing it to her on her 50th birthday.
so good, so good, so good

It drives me crazy when I have a song in my head and can't shake it. I was thinking this was a Neil Diamond song. I was definitely a Neil Diamond fan back in the day.
Neil Diamond, right? But I do like Neal Young too! And I'm getting outta here before that song lodges itself in MY head! I HATE that when that happens - even if it is a song a like....I just can't seem to turn them off! ;o) Happy stitching! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
Ha, made me chuckle too. It is a Neil Diamond song...he had lots of hits. Neil Young was in a rocker band I think...not sure as I am not one to remember those details. That song does stick with you tho...I can't wait to see Sweet Caroline sampler. You are coming up with gorgeous designs for us to stitch. pj
I am a big time Neil Young fan....but I think it was Neil Diamond who released it.....anyway I like it too.
Neil Young was with Crosby Still Nash and Young at one time.....
Still a Neil Diamond fan here. I have the ditty from a Target ad stuck in my head lately, and I HATE it!!! Maybe I'll start humming Sweet Caroline instead.
I think I've sang this song one too many times today, and my eyes have gone bonkers from looking through magnification, and all of this is causing my brain not to funcion!! I do like Neil Young too...but sorry Mr. Young it's Mr. Diamond today! Thanks for bringing this to my attention everyone,
Brenda
Can't wait to see this sampler. I plan to stitch it for my Caroline - my younger daughter who is my sweet Caroline.
Love the song too. Always enjoy the posts. Thanks for sharing with us.
Can't wait to see your sampler. I just know it will be GORGEOUS!
Now I have Sweet Caroline going through my head:)))
Ah, yes, Brenda. I know what it's like to have a song stuck in your head. I currently am listening to the Harry Potter theme over and over. It's stuck in there good, lol. Hope you're enjoying your Sweet Caroline!!
Neil Diamond was definitely my era! He was just coming into his own in the late 60's and early 70s when I was in high school. I was a closet fan though since many of my friends were not into him.
Your sampler looks like such a pretty piece. I look forward to it's release. In the meantime, enjoy your fall and winter months with it.
I'm afraid I'm hearing Status Quo's Sweet Caroline here! Together we can rock and roll!
Looking forward to seeing the finished sampler too.
Neil is a must on my listening list! His music just never gets old! My favorite is Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show. You can really rock out to that one! It reminds me of going to church with my grandma when I was a little girl.
Go Red Sox!! This is sung in the eight inning at Fenway Park so Red Sox Nation knows it well.

Love ND's Sweet Caroline. I would have stayed to listen to more, but I have to get back to the Little League World Series game.
It's a beautiful, cool night here in Ohio...the break before a few more Hot August Nights.
Have fun with Caroline. You have had a great year!

Yeah for Neil Diamond! I didn't know the song was for Caroline Kennedy. What a lucky girl.
