Rosa's House...

I received a note from Bob Anderson
director of the Raptor Resource Organization
to inform me
that the little female falcon
bearing the name
Rosa
was banded on Friday
&
this is where
she lives...

"Great Spirit Bluff"
(nesting box is circled, photo courtesy of Project Banding 2010 Report)

The nesting box
towers over the mighty Mississippi River
just north of La Crescent, MN
across the river from La Crosse, WI.

It will be interesting
to be able to follow
Rosa
over the years
through their annual banding reports.
To see where she ends up...
Hoping
to find her as a nesting female
in the future
with little ones of her own.

Quite the view this falcon family has...
and it just occurred to me
that they need to get
to this nesting box
to band these falcons...
yikes,
rubber knees for me!

Have a good week everyone,
Brenda
.

  9. Hi,Brenda...this is so exciting and beyond words. To think that Rosa is "your Falcon" and that you can follow her life has really touched me.
The falcons certainly have a breathtaking view and home site.
I wish they would have banded "our" baby Eaglets so that we could keep track of them since we've all become so involved in watching them hatch and grow like they have. When they fledge, I for one will probably cry when they finally leave the nest and don't return. My sweetheart says he bought lots of tissue.
    Warmest Regards,

  10. What an amazing view though! It's absolutely awe inspiring! Congratulations to you! I've never known anyone who's named a raptor before! Can't wait to hear all about what she's up to!

  11. That's crazy! I used to live along that stretch of highway in Winona, Minnesota (just north of there), and when I saw the picture, I immediately knew where Rosa was! It's a beautiful area. She will have wonderful places to eat, sleep and hopefully spend time with other birds. Way to go, Rosa!
