The morns are meeker than they were,
the nuts are getting brown,
The berry's cheeks is plumper,
the rose is out of town.
The maple wears a grayer scarf,
the field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.
poem by Emily Dickinson
Such a beautiful autumn-like day it was here in NW Iowa.
No wind and not a cloud in the sky.
The lake looked like a piece of glass.
A perfect day to
do a little baking...
&
a little grilling...
&
putting some X's into linen...
Dear Weatherman,
I'll take a season of these sort of days!
Until next time,
Brenda
I second that thought! It was absolutely beautiful today in NE Kansas. Love the cool mornings and warm afternoons. I would like it to last till Christmas!

ReplyDeleteFabulous pictures. I'm with you - I'll take this kind of weather anytime. Here in North Carolina the sky is blue, blue, blue. Stream water is gurgling and the trees are barely starting to turn.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me the name of the bird in your photo. He is so pretty and interesting, especially like the beak.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to know what kind of bird that is in the pics with the red beak.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! I love the warm fall days.
