While I was gone a big box arrived at my doorstep...
what a fun surprise!
I had forgot I had purchased this little piece with all the craziness life has been the past couple of weeks...
Isn't it a sweet little thing?
Just 15" tall...
but
after seeing her in person
i think
i'll leave the paint as is...
Flip open the lid
and this
is what
you see...
I don't know much about this piece other then it came from Ohio.
I'm thinking it may have been something someone crafted on their own and wasn't a purchased piece...
but that is what I loved about it...
looks like something my dad would have built...
that is what attracted me to the piece.
Doesn't she have the cutest little legs??
Doesn't she have the cutest little legs??
I love her green chippy paint...
It is about the size of a piece of note book paper.
Do I replace it or leave it?
Hmmm...
replace it with a
cross stitched sampler
or a
needle punched design
or a
hooked piece
or how
about a
wool appliqued design??
hopefully I will have
after pictures
by winter's end...
According to the Farmer's Almanac
it sounds like tis
going to be
a
long
cold
& snowy
winter
here in the midwest...
time to start
gathering up
projects
to fill
the long
winter evenings...
hoping your holiday weekend is filled with family, friends & fun,
brenda
I say put a new piece on it! Have fun with it and I wouldn't change the paint either! Very cool! I have the same bench with the brass fitting inside - I bought it at an antique store in Maine and it had an americana type needlepoint pic on top with tacks that was wearing out - so I put a rug hooked piece on top.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I love the green paint. I would put a punchneedle right over top of the old fabric and otherwise keep it as is. I'm so dreading what the winter is going to bring us this year ~ I hope the Almanac is wrong!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful find! I would definitely leave the paint as is. A very aged sampler would be a nice touch on the top.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful find. I just love the chippy green paint. Tough decision - it looks great as is, but I agree with Terri that a punchneedle would also look good, too. Can't wait to see what you decide to do.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely leave the green chippy paint, perhaps you can find a vintage piece of needlework for the top???
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your header and the pumpkins in the upper right photo..just love them..:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece and I think one of your beautiful cross stitches would be perfect for it.

I think it wants something cozy in needlepunch. And that statement is from someone who does not do needlepunch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning about the winter. Sounds like a reasonable excuse to make some purchases today; although I do not think my husband will believe me that I am just stocking up for the winter by buying more quilt and cross stitch supplies.
