You may recall my recent vacation to Colorado? I was going through pictures on my camera and decided I should probably share more photos with you. Photos of the actual road trip...taken from inside my car.
No pictures of traffic jams, crazy Yellow cab cars, skyscrapers, homes of the rich & famous, crowds of people, flashing neon signs or large bodies of water.
Well lets just say there isn't a whole lot to see between home and Colorado...
First things first...
Let me show you how I travel...
Here I am all nestled in amongst my needlework & bag full of floss...getting prepared to do some serious stitching...12 hours of nothing but needlework! YEESSSSS!!!
No phones to answer...
no orders to fill...
no clothes to fold...
no meals to prepare...
no dishes to clear...
and no kitty messing with my cute little balls of Valdani 3 strand floss...
just 12 hours of together time...just me and my needlework bag!
Okay...back to the real photo journalistic reason of this post... pictures of scenery taken hang'n out the car window.
There were brown cows...
& black cows...
& milk cows (AKA Holsteins)...
I saw cows with horns...
& cows without horns...
& black cows...

I saw cows with horns...
& cows without horns...
A corn field...
& another cornfield...
& corn field being irrigated...
& another cornfield...
& corn field being irrigated...
& corn field with hail damage...NOT a good thing!
...complete with a pasture-side view!
There may just be more to smell then see on this very long road trip. Smells all courtesy of the beautiful bovine pictured above...if you know what I mean?? Get the drift???
Trying not to gag...I just kept telling myself what my mother always told me...tis the smell of money! I was born and raised a farm girl and she always told my city girl friends this when they visited "the farm". Their return response was a snotty, curled- up - nose reply of "glad my Dad's money doesn't stink"!
Back to the trip...
It is a scary & lonesome feeling when you look at your GPS and it looks like this...
No town in the next gazillion miles...
Road signs saying NO SERVICES at this exit....
More road signs letting you know how many more miles until the next gas station...
What is one to do if mother nature calls????
I have been kind of hard on my dear friends to the west and I think I need to turn this into a nice post very quickly! So lets turn this post into a giveaway!

I stitch in my favorite comfy chair in the family room & I'm currently stitching a primitive Halloween pinkeep, though I have a couple of large samplers as well. Thanks.

I love to stitch right in my stitching chair in my bedroom. Right now I'm stitching a sampler called Rebecca Robinson and loving it! I love your designs. I'd love to win! lol! And I love your vacation pics -- that rest area pic is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy stitching on my deck. Right now I am stitching on a Sheperd's Bush pattern called Home. I also have your acorn pattern for a pinkeep in my stitching bag. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMy fave place to stitch is my compfy chair in the living room in front of the t.v. Your friendship sampler pattern is in my stitching basket, ready to start on the autumn sampler. Thanks for sharing the road trip photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny post, all of those cows! Reminds me of that scene in Twister where the gal says "We got cows!"
ReplyDeleteI've seen a GPS view like that, on the way to St. Louis a few years ago, we drove 10 hours!
Well, for me, my favorite stitching place is on the couch with my pugs next to me or at a stitchin' friends home :-)
Right now I am working on three SAL's, two of them from Shepherd's Bush, one from Brenda Keyes!
I'd LOVE to win anything you've designed!
Smell the money is often a phrase used here on our farm....and sometimes money does stink!
ReplyDeleteI've always got a stitching project in the car just in case I find myself outside of Tractor Supply, Lowes, or Home Depot. Anywhere I can pull a needle and thread is fine with me....be it on the porch, sewing room, or sitting in a car. In redwork I'm doing an alphabet sampler, and in punchneedle I'm working on halloween projects.
Thanks for offering such a wonderful giveaway all your patterns are super!
What a great post with a sense of humor. My favorite place to stitch in the car. Picture this: I'm sitting in a parked car in the mountains with beautiful views no matter what angle you look at, pine trees, a lake, chipmunks. The seat is reclined with my feet resting on the dash, I know, not very lady like, but oh so comfy to me. Love it!!! Right now you would find Shepherd's Bush's "Sail Away" in my bag which I just started for a SAL. I LOVE Halloween, it is my favorite time of the year, so count me in on your giveaway. Thanks!!! My fingers are crossed!
ReplyDeleteI like to sit on my deck and stitch and listen to all the birds!
ReplyDeleteIn my bag is "An Italian Village" that I am working on...a wedding sampler for my niece..floss for both ..4 cards of needles..an extra piece of pink aida cloth(why? I don't know!)scissors and a highlighting pen!
I will pretty much stitch anywhere!!! I love to sit in my green chair that my Baba and my Momma sat in to do their knitting and embroidery. I am working on the free sampler you gave us way back in May or March, I am so slow!!!! I am anxiously awaiting my books from you, I love everything in your store!!! I love to needle punch as much as I do cross stitching, I have fallen in love with your little spools of thread!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blog and your store are a huge inspiration to me, I am so amazed at everything you have accomplished!!
You also have a sweet grandson!!!!
Hugs,
Margaret B
Thank you for your nice photos, I am really enjoying seeing them :) I like your sense of humor too :))
ReplyDelete1. I always do stitching in my armchair, at home. I cannot stitch in car or anywhere else :)
2. Oh... more projects! WIP With my needle by The Goode Huswife, my Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler, some tiny gifts (always like to making them), threads and linen for my next project BBD Autumn Song, and some of my scissors (I've just finished some fobs for them) :))
Thanks for your giveaway!
Have a great day!

I love to stitch in my comfy chair or anywhere outside as long as it's not to windy! I am going to the beach next week and will continue to stitch your needlepunch, "everyone likes their nest"!
ReplyDeleteMeg
Love your pictures from vacation! Thanks for sharing them. I usually stitch while sitting on my couch in front of the tv and I'm currently stitching BBD A Flock of Birds in their My Heart Is True book. Tons of other things in my stitching bag - too many to list!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your new pattern.
Love your charts! My favourite stitchingplace is mostly my bedroom. I like quitness but when I'm on travel I even stitch in the car because I don't have to drive.
ReplyDeleteIn my basket I have the following charts: Hoppin' Along Sampler, BBD wild berries, BBD Eifel Tower, exhange piece from Prairie Schooler.
Please enter me in your giveaway. Thanks!
My favorite place to stitch is in my glider rocker. A nice glass of tea on the side table, feet up with the television playing a movie.
ReplyDeleteMy current WIP is BBD's "Union Forever." I'm also working on Needleprint's "Beatrix Potter."
Loved your pictures!! Thank you for the chance to win your new pattern!
Love your pastoral photos! My most productive stitching spot is in the car. I have assorted current stitching projects in various places; fall punch needle and x-stitch is priority.
ReplyDeleteLove your pastoral photos. My most productive stitching spot is in the car. Currently I have several projects in various areas; fall cross stitch and punch needle along with needleturn applique.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite place to stitch is with my feet up on the settee in my sitting room, but when I'm at work I like to sit in the car at lunchtimes and stitch for half an hour or so, it keeps me sane. Currently in my bag I have your design, ABC Pinkeep, which I'm doing as a stitch along with a friend in Australia.
ReplyDeleteGee, I will stitch most anywhere, usually in my sewing room at hoem, tho. We are traveling currently, have a new 5th wheel, so have been sitting thinking of what I might best best be able to do going down somewhat bumpy roads, wondering if punch needle would work, seems like such a waste of time sitting, my hands are going crazy!!! I have along a stitchery needlecase by Lynette Jensen and an applique quilt but need to be a bit more still to do it! Please enter me in your giveaway!! Thanks so much, Christine
ReplyDeleteMy favorite spot to stitch is in my chaise chair but I will stitch anywhere and anytime! Currently as always I have several projects in my bag at once...I seem to start small projects when I need something quick to do and then return to my bigger projects as time allows!
ReplyDeleteI've made the trip to Colorado across the wide open fields of Kansas more than a few times - nothing but wheat fields, cows & fields of sunflowers for miles and miles. Ok, the sunflowers are actually quite pretty when they are in full bloom.....
ReplyDeleteMy favorite stitching place is a comfy overstuffed chair in my living room while watching an old movie. When I'm doing - serious, need to get it done stitching - then it's all about my sewing room.
I'm currently stitching on "Holly Jolly Frosty" - it's so cute!
My favorite place to stitch believe it or not is in the boat while my husband is fishing. There's nothing more peaceful than being on the water, and he doesn't like a lot of talking while he's fishing - must scare the fish away :)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on one of your patterns (Tricks & Treats) for my sister.
I recent moved from my recliner to the sofa. I rotate stitching places like my projects. I am working on CC-All About Halloween, Hands To Work - This Is The Day(JCS Issue) Lizzie Kate - To Much Housework,BBD - Blessings & Kind wishes, La D Da Freebie Sampler,Midsummer Night - Memorial Sampler(for my dad), CC- Halloween ornaments, And Your Freebie.
ReplyDeleteWooooo..... April in Alabama
I stitch on my bed with my dog at my side. Right now in my stitching bag is KNITTING. I'm kinda obsessed right now! Love your designs!

I love to punch in my big comfy chair while I watch tv. I am too hyper to do just one thing at a time;) I am working on a freebie pattern from Robin Lueschen.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your trip and hoping you have a safe journey.
Can't wait to see the new design.
Debbie
I also stitch in my car. I leave early for work and have 15-20 minutes to stitch in the morning and then I have 45 minutes at lunch. I always have something to work on. Now I'm embroidering a sewing lap pillow that I will post on my blog when I'm finished. Love your designs and enjoy visiting your blog. Please sign me up for your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI work just about anywhere I can ~ on the couch, on one of the many swings (porch, sunroom, and shop porch)...in the shop...in the car (ESPECIALLY on road trips!)..
ReplyDeleteIn my stitching basket now are 2 snowman samplers to finish punching, a harvest sampler that needs the background finished punching, and I just finished up two other snowman punch samplers last nite! AND I'm just getting ready to punch a bit on one of your punchneedle patterns (the skating snowman)..
Can you tell I'm ADD?
Please enter me in your giveway ~ what a treat it would be!
Have a great weekend,
lisa
Love those cows and the thought of stitching peacefully for 12 hours. My favourite place to stitch.... somewhere quiet, my dog at my feet and listening to my favourite music.....bliss!! And what is in my stitching bag - I can honestly tell you, it is a 'With Thy Needle and Thread' design - ABC Pinkeep.
ReplyDeleteChrissie
I like to stitch on the couch in the family room. In fact, it is my little corner for stitching, and no one else can sit there. I have to be firm about this.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I am working on Mary Wigham (which I will not put down at the moment as I may not come back to it for awhile - seems like it takes FOREVER), Grateful Heart Band Sampler by Nostalgic Needle, and Plantation Sampler. But I do have others lined up waiting for their turns...
I stitch just about any where, the couch in the family room or sitting on the porch in the early evening with my husband. I'm currently working on some primitive fall patterns..one of yours that I just ordered..Cat Tricks..love your patterns! What a nice give-away, please enter my name! ~Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'll stitch most anywhere, but my favorite places are on our deck or in my cozy chair with my husband and a good movie or recorded show that we both enjoy. I'm currently working on a punchneedle Santa, a hand embroidery for a quilt and an embroidered pumpkin. Several Country
ReplyDeleteStitches designs are waiting in the wings saying "do me, do me!!!"
Thank you for sharing your pictures of your trip with us. The one of you in the car with all your stitching around you, reminds me of myself.
ReplyDeleteI usually do my stitching in my comfy chair in my mole hole (craft room). In my bag right now are several of your punch needle patterns, hoops, needles and thread. Cindy
Stitching in the comfort of my vintage wingchair is one of my simple pleasures. Currently, I am punching a Thanksgiving pin, of my own design.
ReplyDeleteBusy Hands...Happy Hearts
Patricia
I stitch where ever my family is... in the kitchen when the kids are doing homework, in the office when they are on the computer, in the family room when they are watching t.v., or at baseball & basketball games.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I am working on a Maggie Bonanomi wool applique piece and Prairie Schooler's Stars & Stripes. Would love to do a needlepunch piece of yours next ;)
Blessings, Patti
My favorite place to stitch is my chair in my sewing room where I can look out onto the lake and watch all the birds and boaters. The light is amazing and so is the view. I'm currently stitching and working on Saltboxes through the year. My absolute favorite stitching is handwork in general, whether it's a stitchery, punch needle, dipping my toe back into cross stitch and my favorite, working with wool. Love your designs :)

ReplyDeleteMy Hubby is a sports fan nut ... so I have my recliner and he has his. This arrangement works perfectly for me ... I can listen and work on my needle work. I am currently working on my first needle punch ... Home Tweet Home & I feel like I am all thumbs. Hubby watches his games. This way we are both together and happy.
ReplyDeleteI adore your designs and would be so thrilled to win and have yet another of one of your patterns. By the looks of those pictures, your trip was most EnJoYable.
Warm Regards, Barb ;o)
